Ving Tsun Kung Fu is a Chinese martial arts system that does not require many years of study before one can begin using what they have learned effectively. Depending on certain circumstances, one can utilize effective techniques within 3 to 6 months. Your initial training in Ving Tsun Kung Fu will require trusting the system and learning the fundamental techniques and principles, the sequences of the forms, and practicing a series of cooperative two person exercises. As you progress, you will be encouraged to explore on your own and interpret the ideas and principles in how they relate to you in order for you to develop "your own Kung Fu".
Siu Nim Tao Module
Students will learn Ving Tsun's first form, where students will learn the Ving Tsun punch and horse. They will continue to build understanding of Ving Tsun principles through training two person exercises.
Chum Kiu Module
After completion of the Siu Nim Tao module, students are eligible to learn Ving Tsun's second form. Students will learn the aspects of balance in movement and kicks in the Ving Tsun system.
Bil Je (Advanced/Instructor Level)
After completion of Chum Kiu, the student is eligible for learning the advanced form, Bil Je which translates to "thrusting fingers". This form teaches to return to the center as quickly as possibly. This is the advanced level where one has the knowledge to teach. At this stage you become eligible to start your Muk Yan Jong (Wooden Man Dummy) training.
Muk Yan Jong (Wooden Man Dummy)
At this level, students learn the 8 sections of the Wooden Man Dummy set.
Luk Dim Poon Kwan (6 1/2 Point Pole)
Measuring 8 or 9 feet in length, the pole is used to develop explosive power in the Ving Tsun punch. The student will have trained for at least 6 months in the low horse "Battle Punching" exercise prior to learning the form.
Bot Chom Doh (8 Direction Slashing Knives)
This is the final stage of formal training in the system and it incoporates the short range weapon of the Ving Tsun system. Traditionally, this form is given to the student who has demonstrated high levels of service to the school, Ving Tsun and the Kung Fu family as a gift from the Sifu.
